With Bryan Kessler's "Cologne Is for Brainfuckers", we unleashed the first full-length offering from both the label and the artist: it held 12 block- and balls-busting techno jams ready to shatter expectations as well as continents, all effed up with the most scattershot array of wicked samples this side of beatnik madness. Now, we up the ante with the "Say Hey" 12" album sampler, bringing Bryan's mighty fine electronic swagger (and a hearty disrespect for genre norms) to vinyl.
It's unknown if young Bryan listened to Kraftwerk, but then again we didn’t ask – who cares, anyway? What’s certain, however, is that this punk renegade, songwriting wunderkind and all-around exceptional producer is a man of many faces, and all of them bang on a can. Discovered on stage while spouting anarchist pop slogans and showcasing an impressive underage mohawk haircut, he never was to be a bottled genius sticking to only one gun - and soon set out to become the lead singer and guitarist for neo punk nutters The Pollywogs while embarking on an equally public career as prolific DJ and dance music producer.
After powerful contributions to imprints such as Get Physical (where he got proudly remixed by DJ Hell), Cómeme or LIKE Records, Bryan followed up with excitingly raunchy material on our little fringe rave imprint, weaving in beautifully diverse influences ranging from no-wave to post-bass mindmelters - as can be heard in the four wall-climbers we selected for "Say Hey". From the impressive bounce of the title cut to the schizophrenic "True Love After Rape", the hard-hitting "Factum" and the gothlicking "Lyden", this release easily cuts through the cesspool of generic techhouse loot and rearranges the remains for the sickest techno taxidermy imaginable. All killers, no fillers!
